PARTNERSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Found in 2002 by Bishnu H.Bhatta and a team of like-minded Nepali professionals, PSD Nepal was born out of a shared frustation with large, impersonal international organizations where results were often unclear and communities felt distant. PSD was built on the opposite principles: small, transparent, community-led development where every beneficiary is part of the process.

Today, PSD Nepal works across Langtang National Park, Chitwan, Baglung, Ilam, and Rasuwa — tackling some of the most pressing challenges in rural Nepal. From building schools and training health workers to launching plastic recycling schemes that turn waste into economic opportunity, PSD's projects are designed to last long after the funding ends. In Langtang alone, they run two recycling facilities, clearing over one tonne of PET plastic waste per month — swapping bottles for apple trees and seeds to encourage sustainable farming.

What makes PSD Nepal different is not the scale of their projects — it's the depth of their roots. Every initiative is co-created with local schools, women's groups, and community committees. No project is imposed from the outside. And when the funding ends, the community carries it forward. That is what sustainable development actually looks like.
