STRAY DOGS PROTECTION

A second chance for the street dogs of Kathmandu

Home/Associations/STRAY DOGS PROTECTION

Their Story

Every day, the streets of Kathmandu hold a quiet kind of suffering — dogs injured by traffic, poisoned, abandoned, or simply forgotten. Sneha's Care exists to change that story, one rescue at a time.

Sneha's Care was founded by Sneha Shrestha, who became one of Nepal's most vocal animal advocates after her own dog died from poisoning by a neighbor. She began by feeding street dogs biscuits in her dog's memory, then started bringing the most badly injured ones home for treatment. Before long, seven rescued dogs were living in her house — and what began as a personal mission grew into a full-scale shelter and rescue operation.

Since 2016, Sneha's Care has operated its own dog shelter in Bhaisepati Bhanjyang, spanning over 5,000 square meters with space for up to 200 dogs. Their medical team responds to dozens of cruelty and injury cases every month, often arriving by ambulance equipped with full medical facilities to treat dogs hit by vehicles, beaten, or starving on the streets of Kathmandu.
